Give Through Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County.
This simple giving option allows you to support affordable housing while also:
- Reducing your taxable income (since QCDs are excluded from income)
- Fulfilling all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
- Avoiding the need to itemize deductions
For 2025, individuals may contribute up to $108,000 through QCDs.

Donate to a ReStore
When you donate clean, usable materials, equipment, and household goods to a ReStore, you help us build and maintain affordable homes, and reduce the amount of usable goods sent to the landfill.
Small donations are accepted during business hours and donation pickup services may be available. For all donations of large items or large quantities, or to discuss donation pickup options, please contact a ReStore manager in advance.

Donation Pickup Services & ReSupply
While Habitat SLO County offers donation pickups on a limited basis, we have partnered with ReSupply to provide an alternative donation pickup option for our donors. ReSupply offers Priority Pickup services for a fee to the donor, which includes retrieval, disassembly, and delivery of items to a Habitat SLO County ReStore. Donors are not required to use ReSupply to donate to one of our Restores.
Cars for Homes™
Cars for Homes is Habitat for Humanity’s vehicle donation program. Proceeds from the sales of donated vehicles are returned to our community when you select our Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County affiliate during your donation. Please visit Habitat for Humanity International’s Cars for Homes page for more information, or call 1 (877) 277-4344 to begin your donation today.
